Guests to Walsh Bay this winter can chase the cold away with the launch of Pier One Sydney Harbour’s pop up chalet on the pier. Partnering with the oldest distillery in the Scottish Highlands, Chivas Regal Whisky, the cabin on the water’s edge will offer specially created warming cocktails and dishes, with a calendar of events and entertainment throughout the months.
From 1 July until 30 September, Chivas Lodge on the Pier provides the perfect winter ‘go to’, where guests can watch the sun set in the Harbour from the comfort of the pier lodge. With all the luxurious features of an alpine ski lodge, guests can sip drinks by the fire and relax with friends, in the comfort of lush throws, rugs and opulent finishes.
Chivas Lodge on the Pier offers five Chivas Regal variations on the rocks or neat, served with homemade coriander and orange chocolate. Six unique cocktails will suit the most discerning of tastes including ‘Nuts & Curd’ – Chivas Regal 12 shaken with lemon curd, fennel and honey syrup and a dash of Frangelico, or ‘Aged Bobby Burns’ – Chivas, Benedictine and Vermouth aged in an oak barrel stored at Pier One Sydney Harbour. Complementing each tipple, a menu of rich and delectable dishes will fulfil a winter appetite including, veal served with tune cream and tarragon and smoked river trout with roe and watercress.
Daily offerings have been designed to keep spirits high during the cold spell. Thursday sees complimentary tasting plates shared between friends, on Friday a DJ, saxophone player and three minute massage angles will roam about the lodge helping Sydneysiders de-stress after the working week, on Saturday a DJ will liven up the lodge and on Sunday, a new performance every week will see away the winter blues.
A further program of experiences will run across the three months to delver deeper in the handcrafted liquor. Intimate tastings and masterclasses, hosted by Chivas Regal National Brand Ambassador Rachel MacDonald, will allow guests to uncover and appreciate the smooth, mellow taste with a complex of nutty flavours. While a five-course degustation dinner, led by The Gantry Restaurant’s Executive Chef Joel Bickford will showcase a perfect matching of ingredients. Three G.H.Mumm Champagne tasting classes, led by National Brand Ambassador Chris Sheehy will explore the history of G.H.Mumm with an extensive tasting of five wine varieties, culminating with the Prestige Cuvée R. Lalou.
